Brendon Hopkinson (@brendonhopkinson) — Just a dude trying to experience the universe.
We miss out on the things that are most important to us. The sad fact is that we are so distracted that we are no longer present in the world in which we live. And the crazy thing is that everybody just assumes that’s the way life’s gotta be just get on with it. Some people will bury themselves in work, grateful for the distraction. Some people hit the bottle, start taking medication. That’s really not how it has to be. We live in an incredibly busy world. The pace of life is often frantic, our minds are always busy, we’re always doing something. So, with that in mind I’d like you take a moment to think when did you last take any time to do nothing. Simply nothing.
Sadly the day has come for me to end my time at Toro Yaka Bush Lodge. A piece of my heart will always remain at this magical place. This past year has been the most incredible year of my life- I have learnt more than I thought possible, had experiences I could only dream of and gotten to know lots of awesome people. But life is a journey and it’s time to step into the next chapter of my life. I would just like to thank everybody that has helped me grow during this past year. To Nicole and Steve for their generosity in offering me this opportunity of a lifetime- I will be eternally grateful. To Nicole for always being there for all of us and making Toro Yaka as good as it is. To Steve, Mike and Nick for imparting your knowledge onto me with enthusiasm and passion and putting me years ahead of where I would be otherwise. To all the staff at Toro Yaka for helping me along and keeping work fun. And to the guests for constantly reminding me why I got into this industry. It has truly been an honour to be part of the Toro Yaka family and to be involved in touching the hearts of those that come here. Toro yaka- you’ve been epic. Inkomu swinene.
