“At a health clinic for displaced Rohingya families, I interviewed a BRAC doctor who left her quiet, comfortable practice in Dhaka to treat hundreds of women each day. Many of them are receiving healthcare for the first time. The doctor told me returning patients ask for her specifically because she makes them feel safe.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As we close out the year, our Communications Director at BRAC USA, Emily Coppel, is sharing stories of generosity, kindness, and unity that she witnessed this year. These are the stories you make possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸: Emily Coppel
“In a climate-affected region of Kenya, I spoke to the husband of a woman receiving support in our ultra-poor program run by @careorg Kenya. When I asked if his wife had changed in the last year, he lit up with pride. ‘She is healthy now,’ he said. ‘She is helping to run our business and send our children to school. She is so beautiful.’” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As we close out the year, our Communications Director at BRAC USA, Emily Coppel, is sharing stories of generosity, kindness, and unity that she witnessed this year. As we close out the year, we want to share stories of generosity, kindness, and unity. Over the next three days, our Communications Director at BRAC USA, Emily Coppel, will share three stories with you. These are the stories you make possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “In Nepal, I met a teenage girl, a member of one of our girls’ empowerment clubs, whose brother was sent to private school — an opportunity she will never have. I asked her what she wants for her future. ‘To take care of elderly people,’ she said. She is taking care of her grandfather, and sees how much it means to him. She wants to inspire others in her community to do the same.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸: Emily Coppel
