Definitely one of the must-go places when you’re in Croatia. Expect a lot of people around because the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site is amazing beyond words! There were many different hiking / walking trails in the national park, so it’s easy to choose one that’s within your capabilities.

About 120km drive from Pula led us to Risnjak National Park, a place that we’ve been looking forward to go to cause it’s been a while since we last went for a hike. Got kinda lost along the way and reached the national park at about 4-ish in the afternoon. Although we were told that it was quite late for us to start the hike then cause the nearest mountain lodge is about 3 hours hike away, we decided to proceed anyway. The thought of hiking up and down in one day (next day) sounds exhausting, so spending the night at the mountain lodge sounds like a splendid and a better idea.

We drove around Pula the next day. One of the place that we stopped by was the arena - a great monument of the Roman empire. I was looking forward to watch the gladiator show, only to find out that the last session was in September and that we missed it by a couple of days. What a bummer! But anyway, the well-preserved amphitheater is still in use now for concerts, etc. We didn’t go in though since it’s built on the hillside, so you can pretty much see everything from the openings, except for the underground tunnel. Ticket costs 50 kuna (about SGD11) which is quite reasonable actually since this arena is always being compared to the colosseum in Rome, but a smaller version.

The next day, we decided to rent a car (yes, again) since that’s an easier option to get around Croatia. The car rental was slightly cheaper though, but we didn’t know that there’s gonna be so many tolls and it wasn’t cheap once it was accumulated. But anyway, here’s one with the beautiful sunset as we make our way to Pula.

After much consideration, we decided to do a trip around Balkans. So from Budapest, we took a bus to Zagreb - the capital city of Croatia. The journey took almost 5 hours, but it depends as well cause we had to alight the bus at the border to get our passports stamped. Getting around Zagreb was confusing initially cause we had no idea where or how to get the bus or transport tickets? So we ended up getting on the tram without paying heh. Everyone just looked at us but no one said anything. But I think need to pay the driver or smth, idk? 🤷🏻‍♀️ But anyway, that was the one and only time that we got on the tram because we just walked to wherever afterwards. 📍Zagreb, Croatia

Moments before there was a firework display near the parliament building. Divided by the Danube River, one side of the city is called Buda and the other Pest. That was definitely interesting to know! We stayed at both sides of the city over the next 4 days and personally, I like the Pest side more. 📍Budapest, Hungary

If you’re planning, or even considering to do a roadtrip in Morocco some day, here’s what you should know. (Based on our experiences, that is!) • IDP (International Driving Permit) It’s good to have one just in case, but nobody asked for it during rental / police checks. • In Morocco, we drive on the right side of the road. So the driver’s seat is on the left. It takes a while to get used to it but once you get the hang of it, it felt the same. • The TPs here are very particular about the speed limit. As long as you don’t exceed the speed limit, you’re safe. (But it’s hard tbh because of the distance you’re covering from one place to another, you just wanna get there fast haha) We got fined twice or thrice I think, because of speeding 😂 The TP will take your particulars and the fine ranges between 150-300 dirham (SGD21-SGD45). Once the payment is made, you’re good to go. • I read somewhere that if the oncoming car blinks the headlight twice, it means that there are traffic police up ahead. We found that to be true cause after noticing one, we spot a policeman hiding behind a tree with a speed camera HAHA • Take note of the speed limit sign cause it changes within a short distance. For example, on a 80km/h road - Within about 100m or so, depending on the road, the speed limit changes to 60km/h or 40km/h. • The roads are generally okay, except for rural and mountainous areas (you can expect plenty of potholes) • There are a lot of roundabouts instead of traffic junctions, especially in the cities. Other than that, just enjoy the view and journey! 🚗

The idea to do a roadtrip in Morocco came up about a month before the trip. After reading plenty of reviews, and taking into consideration all the bad experiences that other people had with other rental companies, we decided to rent from @medloc_maroc. Although it’s slightly pricier (our riad offered car rental for 20€ per day, def wayyy cheaper!) and the deposit was quite a lot as well, we were satisfied with the reviews. Anyway, we wouldn’t want to deal with petty issues after returning the car (like extra fee to clean the car, or given a car that’s already in bad condition, etc) so yup! At 12pm sharp, the staff arrived at the riad for car collection. To drive around the medina is a nightmare (for me especially heh) so the car was parked outside of the medina, where the traffic is less hectic and easier for me to drive off. Our assigned car looked quite new though and that’s really great! We didn’t have any issues with the car throughout the rental period and returning the car was a breeze, so all is good. 🙌🏼
