This is one of our current patients, an immature Swainson's Hawk. He came to us emaciated and with trauma to his right eye. We photographed him here today while moving him to a new enclosure! This species of hawk is highly migratory, spending the summer in the western part of North America and the winters in South America. This species has relatively small feet in comparison to other hawks of the same body size! These guys primarily eat insects and small mammals, but are also known to eat birds, bats and snakes! They are also unique in that they'll often hunt by running on the ground, perusing their prey on foot! Swainson's Hawks are one of the most aggressive birds when on the nest and will often commandeer nest sites from other raptor species! #hawk#wildliferehab#wildliferescue#birdofprey#swainsonshawk#raptor#rescuerehabilitaterelease#ARK

This little Green Sea Turtle is named "Little Fin"! He was admitted to our turtle hospital on November 23rd when he was found with a deep crack into the right side of his shell. One of our veterinarians, Dr. Baker, has been treating this turtle with antibiotics and various splints and bandages to ensure his shell heals well! He is now eating great and on his way to recovery! #Seaturtle#seaturtles#turtles#turtlerehab#wildliferehab#rescuerehabilitaterelease#greenseaturtle#cheloniamydas

This morning we recovered this adult Brown Pelican who showed up on the ARK property with a large open tear to his pouch. We took him to Dr David at Island Animal Clinic of Port Aransas where she was able to suture up the tear! Had this bird not been found and treated, he certainly would have starved! We will keep you updated on his progress!! Thanks to Dr David and all the staff at Island Animal Clinic! #pelican#birds#birdsoftexasstate#birdsofinstagram#wildliferehab#birdsurgery
