When you can wear your parrot shirt, you know you're in a happy place. ____ A few thoughts on Antigua, a place we never really expected to visit anytime soon, but were fortunate enough to be invited there as part of a travel conference (yes, we know, sometimes our life is bizarre). Its beaches are as divine as you'd imagine, the capital St John's is incredibly colourful and photogenic, you should definitely rent a car and explore it on your own time and dime, the local breakfast of salt fish, chop-up and fungee hits the spot, Sunday night sunsets from Shirley Heights are unmissable, its hot sauce gave Emily all the feels, clapboard houses in shades of purple, yellow and green are really common, it is really difficult to understand the local dialect when two Antiguans are chatting together, rum is king, the highest mountain is named after Barack Obama, there are colourful shacks selling fruit by the side of the road, cricket and sailing are a big deal, lots of people go there to get married, its water is picture postcard, two currencies work there (both called the dollar), and it's impossible to visit and hate it. It was our first taste of travelling on a Caribbean island, and it was delicious. ____ #LoveAntiguaBarbuda#Antigua#TheConstantlyCurious#Antiguaandbarbuda#MyTinyAtlas#PassionPassport#LifeWellTravelled#TheGlobeWanderer#Travelandlife#FindItLiveIt#VisualsOfLife#LetsGoEverywhere#IChoseToWander#TravelStoke#Caribbean#BeautifulDestinations#Flashesofdelight#WeLiveToExplore#LifeOfAdventure#Wanderfolk#ExploreToCreate#RoamThePlanet#AGameOfTones#VisitAntiguaBarbuda#TravelGuy#DarlingEscapes#ForAHappyMoment#letsgosomewhere#exploretocreate

This is Justus. ____ Justus is one of the men who guided us through countries which had always felt so far away. He's the man who could cook up a vegetarian feast on any campsite. He's the man who we could always rely on to wake up before us, no matter how early, to ensure we could prepare. He's the man who supports Manchester United, speaks over 10 languages, and can charm anyone with his smile. He's the man who shared his perspectives on global politics and history. He's the man whose use of the word 'bloody' is unrivalled. He's the man who grew up as a Masai in the village and moved to the city to become an engineer. He's the man who kept things ticking like clockwork. Justus was our @gadventures CEO on our overlanding tour through Africa, and he became a friend too. He played a huge role in making our three weeks out there so fantastic. ____ We've also just posted a new article about our travels there - you can read 'An African Dream' via the link in our bio. ____ #TheConstantlyCurious#GWanderers#ad#ig_africa#loves_africa#exploretocreate#neverstopexploring#welivetoexplore#mytinyatlas#roamtheplanet#theglobewanderer#exploringtheglobe#flashesofdelight#passionpassport#africaamazing#everydayafrica#GAdventures#lifewelltravelled#ThisIsAfrica#cntraveler#momentsofmine#peopleoftheworld#liveforthestory#photographyeveryday#opentheworld#traveldeeper#finditliveit#ichosetowander#whyweadventure#portrait

A view of the view of Lake Malawi ____ The guide's name was Obvious, but the route wasn't. He had said it would only take a couple of hours, but we were still walking after four. We thought we'd walk down the winding roads, but instead we took a beaten up van with a bleary-eyed driver. We thought lunch would be quick, but it took an age. This day wasn't meant to be anything special, but it was one of the best. The day our @gadventures group walked up and up and up some more to Livingstonia in Malawi, via secret waterfalls, dusty roads and a few unexpected turns along the way, was sweaty and long. But it undoubtedly ranked as one of our favourite days from the three weeks travelling this part of Africa. It deepened friendships, gave Emily a blister, let us meet a lot of locals, made us laugh, made us tired, made us thirsty for a cold beer and gave us breathtaking views over Lake Malawi - it was the sort of day we'll always remember with a smile. We would love to return to Malawi in the future. #TheConstantlyCurious#Malawi#GWanderers ____ #goexplore#neverstopexploring#exploremore#choosemountains#getoutstayout#iamatraveler#letsgosomewhere#welivetoexplore#stayandwander#theoutbound#getoutside#welltravelled#keepitwild#exploreeverything#roamtheplanet#natureaddict#loves_africa#exploretocreate#lifeofadventure#naturelover#mytinyatlas#planetdiscovery#theglobewanderer#exploringtheglobe#liveadventurously#africanamazing#everydayafrica

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you've got some fabulous weekend plans ahead of you! For us, as much as we'd love to be out and about in London town, instead we'll be spending the next 36 hours hunkered down in our flat and glued to the computer with many a cup of tea (simply can't function without the tea!), editing photos of Antigua, writing about Tanzania and packing for our upcoming trip to.... Tenerife on Sunday! Besides the fact that one, we love Spain, and two, we love the sun, we've been wanting to get out to this little island for quite some time now to explore its alternative side. Think hiking, cycling, water-based activities and something Emily never quite thought she'd agree to! It's all very subjective. We were wandering around outside our hotel in the north of Zanzibar and, despite melting from the heat, we felt like we were in photography heaven. One of our favourite ways to get a shot is to find a scene that we think will emerge, and wait. Not only does that allow us to have more than one click of the shutter, but it means we can frame it how we like and get various takes. It also means people don't really notice us two sweaty Brits hanging out with cameras. We spotted this cool hand-painted sign and already knew that, if we waited a little while, a woman in colourful Islamic dress would wander past it. And that would make a decent shot to capture a sense of this African island. But, that's the 'behind the scenes' commentary. What we really want to say is that the greatest thing about street photography is that it's all very subjective. As well as (hopefully) liking this scene, we'll all look at it a little differently. Some may see the colour, some may see the juxtaposition, some may see a generation gap, some may see a female collective, some may see a different culture, some may see nothing. Street photography allows six people to see something in six different ways, and all can be correct. That's the magic of it. ____ #GWanderers#TheConstantlyCurious ____ #StayandWander#ExploreToCreate#MyTinyAtlas#IChoseToWander#RoamThePlanet#ThisIsAfrica#AfricaAmazing#IG_Africa#LetsGoEverywhere#PhotographyEveryday#LetsGoSomewhere#TravelStoke#StreetPhotographers#GAdventures#liveforthestory#Storyofthestreet#PassionPassport#NeverStopExploring#finditliveit#natgeoyourshot#peopleoftheworld#momentsofmine#lifewelltravelled#cntraveler#welivetoexplore

That down there is basically Disneyland for animals... Or to give it its proper name, The Ngorongoro Crater. Often referred to Africa's Garden of Eden this relatively small area (just 100 square miles) is home to more than 30,000 animals - including the highest density of lions in all of Africa. Yeah, no way we were getting out of the truck! Curiously missing however was our friend, Mr Giraffe. Because giraffes can't make it down to or up from the crater because of their giraffe legs (which is why you see so many mooching around near the access roads). ____ Emily's wearing Marsden The Camera Pack by @homeofmillican, a British company who make sustainable bags for the conscious traveller and for personal journeys across the globe. This water-resistant orange one has a special compartment for our two DSLRS and a couple of lenses - definitely a step up from our previous technique of chucking it all in the bottom of a backpack and hoping for the best! #Ad#TheConstantlyCurious#GWanderers ____ #girlswhotravel#sheisnotlost#wearetravelgirls#dametraveler#womenwhoexplore#shewhowanders#femmetravel#passionpassport#girlsborntotravel#lifewelltravelled#theglobewanderer#travelandlife#cntraveler#mytinyatlas#GAdventures#finditliveit#darlingescapes#forahappymoment#visualsoflife#letsgoeverywhere#openmyworld#ig_africa#loves_africa#WonderfulTanzania#ThisIsAfrica#AfricaAmazing#letsgoeverywhere

Although the splattered sides of the safari truck are a strong indication that we encountered a number of muddy roads, we also found more than our fair share of dusty ones in the Serengeti too. Those are the roads we'll always seek. Our four-year anniversary for launching the blog actually happened just a few days ago (just like our own anniversary, we always forget to do anything) and it's quite monumental to think that the name we came up with as we bumped along in the back roads in Belize still rings true for our travel spirit. And, most bizarrely, has somehow resulted in this becoming more than just a passion. The road may not always be dusty, but the mentality always will be. Plus, we made some t-shirts, which Andrew insists on wearing more than he should because he's odd like that. Don't encourage him. #TheConstantlyCurious#GWanderers ____ #ThisIsAfrica#serengeti#GAdventures#MyTinyAtlas#PassionPassport#WhyWeAdventure#NatGeoExplorer#Safari#LifeLivedBeautifully#AfricaLove#Ig_Africa#AfricaAmazing#NeverStopExploring#ExploreToCreate#WeLiveToExplore#LifeofAdventure#ExploringTheGlobe#ForAHappyMoment#welivetoexplore#lifeofadventure#cntraveler#getoutstayout#lifewelltravelled#theglobewanderer#gadventures#letsgoeverywhere#finditliveit#traveldusty

We had no idea that we were visiting the Serengeti during the Great Wildebeest Migration. Lots of people time their safari to witness one of the animal kingdom's greatest phenomenons, and here we were just stumbling upon it with no expectations - it ended up being on of our most memorable moments from the entire trip. It's a moment that's impossible to really capture on camera, but to be there is breathtaking. The Serengeti is bigger than you can imagine, and the sheer number of wildebeest crossing in single file like an endless black freight train stretches from horizon to horizon. Around two million wildebeest take part in this 1,200 mile odyssey, so we of course only saw a small snippet in the afternoon sun. But, from our safari jeep, we could see hundreds of thousands of wildebeest roaming on the grassy plains on either side, with a constant stream of young and old crossing the road right in front of us. What a moment to witness. FYI - wildebeest are awesome. #TheConstantlyCurious#GWanderers#Tanzania ____ #ProtectTheWild#ThisIsAfrica#serengeti#serengetinationalpark#greatmigration#JaneGoodall#GAdventures#MyTinyAtlas#PassionPassport#BeautifulDestinations#WhyWeAdventure#NatGeoYourShot#WildlifePhotography#NatGeoExplorer#Safari#LifeLivedBeautifully#AfricaLove#Ig_Africa#AfricaAmazing#NeverStopExploring#ExploreToCreate#WeLiveToExplore#LifeofAdventure#ExploringTheGlobe#ForAHappyMoment#welivetoexplore#lifeofadventure

Hanging out on the steps in Stone Town. ___ Zanzibar is one of those places that you always read about. A place that when spoken of conjures images of coconut flavoured cocktails, dips in aquamarine waters and romantic strolls along perfect white sand beaches. And whilst our short time on the coastline did indeed provide us with wonderful halcyon days, its main city was somewhere quite different. In fact, it reminded us far more of our wanderings in Morocco. The call to prayer sung out from high, small labyrinthine alleyways packed with bikes, market stalls, local arts and crafts, people head to toe in Islamic dress and men sharing stories over small cups of tea and coffee. The only thing missing were the donkeys! ___ Where have you been that felt completely different to what you were expecting? ___ And in other news - we're off to Antigua in The Caribbean tomorrow! Never take a wild elephant for granted... Many of you know that tourists and travellers have a toxic relationship with elephants. Across continents, it is still perceived as acceptable, desirable even, to get on top, pose for a picture and perpetuate the myth that this is something fun. There are also many accounts where influencers have taken, admittedly, beautiful shots of these gentle mythical beasts apparently free and happy in the water or in a purported rescue centre, whilst they are actually beaten, chained and used to bring in money. We know that lots of you are already well aware of these issues, but it's a message that none of us can ever take for granted or become complacent about. Instagram actually advises anyone using an elephant riding hashtag that they are engaging in animal abuse and harmful behaviour - but then doesn't ban the actual tag or photos, with hundreds posted in the last few hours. Lots of travellers clearly still think it's acceptable and don't know or want to hear the terrible practices which have resulted in that animal being 'tame' and 'happy' to have you on its back. Our recent safaris in Africa - in the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and South Luwanga National Park - all allowed us our first ever opportunity to see elephants up close and personal and, most importantly in the only way we want to see them. Wild + Free. It was simply unforgettable. This photo is from the morning spent in Ngorongoro Crater, where are group of around 8 or 9 bull elephants were hanging out in the grass just ahead of us. That sort of privileged access to wildlife was a massive reason we choose our specific @GAdventures tour, which is part of their twenty-strong 'Jane Goodall Collection', approved and endorsed by the lady herself. Don't know who Dr. Jane Goodall is? Then look her up - the lady is an absolute inspiration. If we can all take little steps in raising awareness, making ethical choices and helping to foster a greater respect amongst others for the wonderful animals who share this planet with us, then we can help to keep them exactly how they should be: Wild + Free. #theconstantlycurious#GWanderers#Tanzania

A wall, a camera, a man in Zanzibar. There was a little factoid a few years ago about how, in that year alone, more photos had been taken than ever before on earth. We imagine that, as smartphones have become more and more common around the world, each year beats itself in terms of numbers of pixels produced. Why do you take photos when you travel? Is it to document a place or create memories for when you're older? Is it the way you uncover somewhere new or more about fun snapshots with friends? Do you ever look at photos afterwards, or is it more about getting the best shots for your Instagram feed? As this is our job now, we pretty much always have to be taking photos wherever we go but, thankfully, we absolutely love it and through our lens is our very favourite way to travel. Our camera isn't (most of the time) a barrier to interaction, but a way to tame a wild and strange city, to frame it and capture a little bit of it for us (and for you). We'd love to know why you photograph and how you photograph on your travels - and what's the one thing you wish you could do better with your camera? #zanzibar#GWanderers#GAdventures#TheConstantlyCurious ____ #StayandWander#ExploreToCreate#MyTinyAtlas#IChoseToWander#LetsGoEverywhere#PhotographyEveryday#LetsGoSomewhere#liveforthestory#PassionPassport#NeverStopExploring#finditliveit#momentsofmine#lifewelltravelled#cntraveler#welivetoexplore#theglobewanderer#traveldeeper#travelawesome#welltravelled#agameoftones#opentheworld#lifewelltravelled#stonetown#WonderfulTanzania#neverstopexploring#tanzania

The bus conductor Driving through large parts of Africa these last few weeks meant we had less time out on the streets with our cameras than we normally would, so we had to adapt a little. This shot, for example, was taken just as Emily had purchased three bottles of Malawian hot sauce (to test and compare for the purposes of science you see) and we were hanging out with most of our group on the bus in the supermarket car park. Men were trying to sell bracelets through the window, it was hot, and there was a fantastic soundtrack of local music being played somewhere in the distance. This guy had already struck us as photogenic (a toothpick always helps too) and, as soon as he stuck his head out the window, we felt it was a photo worth taking. A man in a bus, taken through our bus window. The thing about street photography for us is that the subject, wherever they're from in the world, would crack a smile when they saw the image we created. That they would like how we've framed them, they'd like how they look and what that moment in time represents. That it would create empathy. We think he'd like it. #GWanderers#GAdventures#TheConstantlyCurious ___ #StayandWander#ExploreToCreate#MyTinyAtlas#IChoseToWander#RoamThePlanet#ThisIsAfrica#AfricaAmazing#IG_Africa#LetsGoEverywhere#PhotographyEveryday#LetsGoSomewhere#TravelStoke#StreetPhotographers#liveforthestory#Storyofthestreet#PassionPassport#NeverStopExploring#finditliveit#natgeoyourshot#peopleoftheworld#momentsofmine#lifewelltravelled#cntraveler#welivetoexplore

It began in Africa... The past three weeks have been so utterly surreal, mesmerising, adventurous, captivating, educational and wonderful that it almost feels like we've just woken up from a dream. We have seen elephants in the wild. We have visited five new countries. We have had conversations we won't forget. We have witnessed some of Africa at its finest. We have travelled along miles and miles of dusty roads. We have had sunset swims in the Indian Ocean and sweatily clambered to a waterfall in Malawi. We have camped for the longest period ever in our lives, in both sun, rain and lightning storms. We have challenged our misconceptions and learned about parts of the world we knew very little. We have seen the positive economic impact tourism can bring to communities and individuals. We have risen before sunrise and spent long days on a purple bus to bring us to storybook lands. We have tasted pineapple purchased from the side of the road and shared campfire beers with new friends under Serengeti starlight. We have taken thousands of photos and our first steps towards what will hopefully be an enduring travel affair with Africa. We had many hopes about our @GAdventures 21-day tour from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to Nairobi, Kenya - and they were pretty much all surpassed. Over the next couple of weeks we can't wait to share some of our favourite photos and stories from our adventure with you. p.s. we've missed you guys!! #GWanderers#Tanzania#TheConstantlyCurious ___ #girlswhotravel#sheisnotlost#wearetravelgirls#dametraveler#womenwhoexplore#shewhowanders#femmetravel#passionpassport#girlsborntotravel#lifewelltravelled#theglobewanderer#travelandlife#cntraveler#mytinyatlas#GAdventures#finditliveit#darlingescapes#forahappymoment#visualsoflife#letsgoeverywhere#openmyworld#ig_africa#loves_africa#WonderfulTanzania#ThisIsAfrica#AfricaAmazing#ad

When it seems like the giraffes have planned a photo shoot... ___ When choosing our first @GAdventures tour, we knew we wanted an adventure. And we wanted to take our first steps in countries hitherto unknown to both of us. The choice was clear - Africa. We wanted to see elephants the way they should be - wildly roaming, happy and free. We wanted to travel along dusty roads in search of a pride of lions basking in the shade of tree. We wanted to camp under a giant sky and listen to nothing but the sound of nature (or, as it turned out, farting hippos!). And we wanted to understand a little better, a region which is so often misunderstood. We found the perfect tour. We've only been here for five days and already we've witnessed the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, roaring at the end of the rainy season. We've experienced two incredible Zambian safaris and taken countless photos of animals we'd known only through David Attenborough. We've shared conversations which have opened our eyes, and we've caught a glimpse of a part of the world which we already know we will revisit. We have another two weeks, and countless experiences that will amaze and inspire ahead of us. And frankly, we can't wait. #TheConstantlyCurious#GWanderers#Ad#Zambia ___ #GAdventures#ig_africa#loves_africa#forahappymoment#exploretocreate#earthpix#ourplanetdaily#lifeofadventure#naturelover#neverstopexploring#welivetoexplore#mytinyatlas#roamtheplanet#planetdiscovery#theglobewanderer#travelstoke#exploringtheglobe#flashesofdelight#theoutbound#passionpassport#liveadventurously#africanamazing#everydayafrica#explorezambia#wildography#africaamazing

Another pic n' the wall... - - - So, full disclosure, this is a photo from last year in Puglia. The reason? Well, we just got back to London yesterday after a wonderful week in Italy... but it's nearly already time to start another great adventure. That means today has been a caffeine-packed whirlwind of packing, working, panicking, blogging and doing little happy dances. Because we can finally tell you the big news. We are now one of @GAdventures team of 'Wanderers'! But, what does that mean exactly, we hear you ask... Well, we're one of 14 travel blogs who will be partnering with G Adventures this year on some fantastic projects to share their belief, and our belief, that travel can change lives and make the world a little better, one adventure at a time. And that's why we are off to spend three weeks overlanding and camping through Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania from TOMORROW! As long-time readers will know, neither of us has visited this part of world before, and so we have that fantastic mix of excitement, uncertainty and 'can't-wait-for-Christmas' anticipation. Returning to Puglia in early spring starts means that everything is much quieter. Fewer restaurants are open, there are hardly any tourists (except us!) and Italians are bundled up in puffy winter coats rather than chic beach wear. However, we have had a couple of beautiful sunkissed days to explore the deserted streets whilst all the locals enjoy their 3-4 hour 'pausa' in the middle of the afternoon. We struggle to adjust our schedules to the Italian way, but if you're in Italy for a week or so, we'd definitely advise it! In certain streets, if you just removed a handful of signs and cables, it could be almost unchanged from a couple of centuries ago. The whitewashed walls, shuttered windows and pretty little features remind us that, in Italy, the seasons may change but the beauty is permanent. #TheConstantlyCurious#WeAreInPuglia#HandpickedbyBFY ___ #mytinyatlas#passionpassport#letswander#welivetoexplore#seetheworld#lonelyplanet#lifewelltravelled#widenyourworld#exploretocreate#theglobewanderer#theculturetrip#flashesofdelight#visualsoflife#justgoshoot#IlikeItaly#Italymagazine#instagramitalia#Puglia#theprettycities#cntraveler#tlpicks#finditliveit#ig_italia#exploringtheglobe#NotJustAVilla#ExploreRV#livetotraveltraveltolive
