One of my favorite creatures. The Caracal Cat - The caracal is not endangered yet, but their population is lowering quickly. The main cause for the Caracals' threatened status is farmers. Many caracals are accused each day for hunting livestock. In 1981 1,800 Caracals were killed in Nambia for hunting livestock. Some, although very few, were poached for their fur in Central and West Africa. Diet: Carnivore Average Life Span: 18 years in the wild. Protection Status: Near Threatened. πŸ“Έ : @uli_wildlife _____________________________________ ______ __ Thanks For Reading πŸ™πŸΌπŸ¦‹ FOLLOW πŸ‘‰ @africansafariconnection#africansafariconservation 🦏 _____________________________________ #wonderfull#capturethewild#africanamazing@african_portraits#igs_africa@discoverwildlife#africa

Cheetahs once ranged across the entire African continent, except for the Congo Basin, and into Asia from the Arabian Peninsula to eastern India. Today, cheetahs are found in only 9% of their historic range and are extinct in their Asian range except for a small population in Iran of about 50 individuals. πŸ“Έ : @donalboyd _____________________________________ ______ __ Thanks For Reading πŸ™πŸΌπŸ¦‹ FOLLOW πŸ‘‰ @africansafariconservation#africansafariconservation 🦏 _____________________________________ #wonderfull#capturethewild#africanamazing@african_portraits#igs_africa@discoverwildlife#africa@marvelshots#wildlife_perfection#global4nature@bestnatureshot#conservation#conservation#africa#poaching#extinction#nature#wildlife#wildlifephotography#natgeo#turningthetide#instagood#animals#hope#survival#stoptheslaughter#makeadifference#donate#wildlifepreserve#animalrescue

Repost from the wonderful @empowersafrica Although we think every day should be rhino day, the 22nd of September actually is the official World Rhino Day 2018! 🦏❀️ The good news is that poaching numbers have decreased over the last year which is certainly cause for celebration of both the majestic animals and of all the committed conservationists who dedicate their lives to looking after them. But the sad news is that poaching still happens and the shocking statistic is that 3 (sometimes more!) rhino are killed every day for their horns. This is largely due to false information that the horn (made of the same material as human nails believe it or not) has supernatural and healing qualities. So, what can you do? Share this post, spread awareness, educate others, and if you would like to, make a small donation through the link in our bio. We are committed to working with projects across Africa who make a real difference in creating a brighter future for these incredible animals. empowersafrica. . . . . #SaveTheRhino#rhino#olpejeta#stopthekilling#worldrhinoday#loverhinos#spreadtheword#instalove#respectthehorn#endextinction#rhinopoaching#stoppoaching#jointheherd#KillTheTrade#saynotopoaching#StopTheTrade#WorthMoreAlive#wildlife#saveourwildlife#africa#amazinganimals#conservation#empowersafrica

africansafariconservationOne of the greatest threats to the cheetah in the wild is human-wildlife conflict. Over 90 percent of cheetahs live outside protected management areas, meaning that they live alongside human communities. Most of these are commercial and communal farming communities raising cows, sheep, and goats. To the communal farmers, many of whom are poor, the loss of even a single animal can be devastating.Cheetahs and other predators are looked upon by farmers not as a valuable component of a thriving ecosystem, but as a threat to their livelihoods. During the 1980’s, livestock and game farmers halved the Namibian cheetah population, indiscriminately removing nearly 10,000 cheetahs. @ccfcheetah ❀️😍 πŸ† πŸ“·: @saedgraficss _____________________________________ ______ __ Thanks For Reading πŸ™πŸΌπŸ¦‹ FOLLOW πŸ‘‰ @africansafariconservation#africansafariconservation 🦏 _____________________________________ #africansafariconservation#nature#naturelovers#photo#love#photooftheday#photography#wildlife#wild#cheetah#family#african#safari#africa#cat#cats#animal#animals#instagood#instadaily africansafariconservation#conservation#africa#poaching#extinction#nature#wildlife#wildlifephotography#natgeo#turningthetide

Repost from the formidable talent @kyledenobrega After spending the last 3 weeks smack bottom in the Gwembe Trough, the reasons become clear why, to our limited modern knowledge, that not many bipedal mammals chose this place to settle for good. The Valley walls that confine you inside the depression are so full of life, it takes a single cycle of darkness in a tent to relaize the intensity of it, it is loud and alive. The day time hours start cool and fast for the heavy barrage of heat is never too far away. By mid morning the dynamics change. Elephants pour out of the distant woodlands and congregate to feed on the protein rich pods of the Albida trees, Eland herds gather in the way only Eland do in complete silence on the open floodplains and adjacent forest, Chacma Baboons fall asleep face first in the shade of a Sausage Tree and occasionally bark at a sleeping scarred valley lion resting on the shaded fringe of the open areas. Against your will, youre handed scenes of an old and wild Africa on a golden platter, it without question and agaisnt the odds, feels refreshingly good to be a alive here too. It feels as if the magic of the Lower Zambezi river in Mana Pools is magnified on the truly extraordinary Chikwenya concession, a small but intensified concentration of energy and beauty on a scale hard to define. Thanks to @wearewilderness who now manage the concession and Chikwenya Camp, a place what now feels almost like a secret after so many years of dormancy. . . #manapools#zambezi#travel#explore#safari#nature_perfection#natgeo#wildlife_perfection#earthcapture#wildlifeplanet#cntraveller#wildlife_perfection#earthofficial#travelphotos#protectwildlife#wildlifephotography#natgeohub#naturephotography#wildlifeplanet#natgeotravel#nature_brilliance

Here are a group of women, trained and disciplined, living with no electricity or running water in the bushveld - working together and patrolling the Greater Kruger area to keep poachers at bay, to collect dangerous snares and protect who knows how much wildlife - 100s maybe 1000s each year. This cat’s populations are steadily decreasing in the wild. In just two decades, Africa’s population has decreased 43 percent and it is estimated that as few as 23,000 remain. One of the main causes is the alarming rate at which they are losing their habitats due to expanding human populations and the resulting growth of agriculture, settlements, and roads. Human-wildlife conflict is also a major threat to lions. Due to habitat loss, lions are being forced into closer quarters with humans. This, coupled with decrease in their natural prey, causes them to attack livestock. In turn, farmers oftentimes retaliate and kill these majestic big cats. They are hunted by humans. Lions are being killed in rituals of bravery, as hunting trophies, and for their perceived medicinal and magical powers. Repost from the wonderful africanparksnetwork | More than four decades ago, 26 young elephants 🐘 made a historic journey to Akagera National Park in Rwanda. Human-wildlife conflict had reached a breaking point in Bugesera, an area of farmland situated in the south of Rwanda, and the decision was made to translocate these giant land mammals to Akagera. Today, there are more than 100 elephants living in the park, including some of those original elephants. Effective park management has provided them with the space they have needed to breed and thrive. African Parks entered into a long-term partnership with the Rwandan Development Board in 2010 and since then we have practically eliminated poaching; we reintroduced lions in 2015 and rhinos in 2017 and tourism is booming making this park over 75% self financing. Akagera is a shinning light for conservation in Africa, and shows what is possible with political commitment, donor support and effective park management. Microplastics and other plastic pollution are among our biggest environmental threats. It’s hurting sea animals and making them sick and threatening their existence. Plastic waste is littering our oceans and threatening the lives of millions of marine animals. Like Turtle, Seals, whales, dolphins, seabirds, fish, crabs and many other sea animals are dying and becoming sick because of this deadly environmental concern. Microplastics are a major part of the issue. Microplastics are tiny pieces of plastic which come from larger plastics that have degraded over time. Sea animals often eat microplastics because of their small size. And plastic contains toxic chemicals, which can increase the chance of disease and affect reproduction. After ingesting microplastics, seals, and other animals, may suffer for months or years before they die. In 2014, an estimated 15 to 51 trillion microplastic particles were floating in the world’s oceans, weighing between 93,000 and 236,000 tonnes. Be conscious of tor waste and what you use at home, keep in mind what goes into the bin probably will end up in our Oceans. We all have to speak up for the voiceless below the surface!!!!!! πŸ“·: @benjhicks check him out! πŸ’™πŸŒŠπŸ’ _____________________________________ ______ __ Thanks For Reading πŸ™πŸΌπŸ¦‹ FOLLOW πŸ‘‰ @africansafariconservation#africansafariconservation 🦏 _____________________________________ #wonderfull#capturethewild#africanamazing#igs_africa#africa#wildlife_perfection#global4nature#conservation#conservation#africa#poaching#extinction#nature#wildlife#protect#beoceanminded - #canon 1dx + 24 1.4 inside @aquatech_imagingsolutions#aquatech - @sunbum#sunbum@solvesunglasses#solvesunglasses@rvca#rvcaloha@pacsafeofficial#pacsafeofficial@nativeshoes#nativeshoes@compoundboardshop#compoundboardshop@nomadsurfshop#nomadsurfshop
