Churches, Temples & Mosques around the world are just absolutely astounding! UnfortunAtely most of the Mosque was covered due to restoration but still Wowowoow the detail inside was insane, almost as insane as the number of visitors inside. Istanbul, Turkey 2018

It was overcast, cold and rainy when we had our busy day around Istanbul- but it only added to the drama & magic that you felt moving through the city, we still managed to see the highlights, walk around 3 neighborhoods & took advantage of the city’s amazing (and cheap) public transportations. *drum roll please* the Hagia Sophia! Unfortunately it’s closed on Mondays so we weren’t able to go inside. But we met two university students who had an English assignment to interview English speakers so it was fun to sit with them and talk a little and help them with their project!

Another shot of the shiny designs covering the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul. We ended up buying one of the spice grinders because 1. We needed one and 2. I’m a sucker for this shit. For a total of 15 TRY (~2.75 USD) even if it isn’t the best spice grinder of all time it’s really pretty 🤷🏻‍♀️

The colors of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey! Wowowowow we just spent about 30 minutes wandering through the alleyways and stopped for a Turkish coffee to sit & people watch. It’s a perfect place for it and an easy free thing to see (if you don’t buy anything that is)!

After a full day in Athens and about 4 hours sleep we made it to Istanbul where we had a 17 hour layover before flying on to Bangkok! We saw the highlights like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the grad bazaar, the spice market, and three different neighbourhoods!! Unfortunately we couldn’t go inside the Hagia Sophia because it’s closed on Mondays, but even the outside 🙀😻 Seriously we did a lot and ate such incredible food. We cannot wait to go back and spend some more time in the city. Istanbul, 2018

The golden hour over Athens. We stayed in an adorable hotel with an incredible view of the Acropolis, so it was accurately named. We spent the whole evening up on the roof- even in the cold night air because it was absolutely stunning. The light & colors kept changing, so I have a few photos from the same view with different light 😻🇬🇷

Before I start posting a ridiculous amount of photos of old buildings here are a few selfies of us in front of THE PARTHENON 🙀🙀🙀🙀 seriously a dream come true. I can’t describe all the feelings that overwhelmed us (especially me) as we walked through the sites and up to the top. TIP: go in winter it’s only €10 per person instead of the peak season prices, plus way less people especially if you get there at 8am like we did! You’ll still notice a few tour buses coming in between 9-10:30am. Most people told us an hour & a half is enough time to see everything, we were in such awe we realized we had been there for 2.5 hours and made moves because we wanted to see so much more! It’s really up to you how long you want to explore, read, & snap some photos. Remember to put your camera down for sometime and really take it all in. Athens, Greece 2018

Cheesing so hard at the acropolis on top of Athens. The sun was actually blinding- so I couldn’t see a thing but it gave us some of the most gorgeous morning light across the Parthenon & Temples. After two rainy and cold weeks in Chalkida we got SO lucky for our full day in Athens! It was 16C (60F) & perfectly sunny ☀️

@timstastytours stole my camera but my old iPhone caught him in the act. Today was an emotional & wonderful day I’ll never forget! I’ve been looking forward to seeing the acropolis since I was a kid! A true bucket list item for an art history nerd. More photos to come. Greece 2018

Walking around Chalkida we stumbled across citrus trees, old churches, and old walls. Absolutely, love checking this city. It’s pretty quiet in the winter, but apparently is packed during the summers. Many people from Athens holiday here since it’s only an hour away and is right on the water!

An (almost) winter’s day selfie-shoot. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had any time to actually explore this small port city we’ve been living in . We spent today visiting old churches, walking along the water & eating gyros 🙌🏻

Inside one of the main cathedrals in Lima, Peru. Did you know there are catacombs you can visit below? Instead of entering through the main doors enter on the left and pay a small fee to wander the tunnels below the surface. Seriously glad we discovered a hidden side of Lima’s famous churches. 2018

5 years ago today (2013) I was staying on Lake Kivu in Gisyeni, Rwanda bordering the DRC. It was one of the most incredible trips I’ve ever done. The location was gorgeous & I had hitch-hiked my way here from the capital in Kigali and met a few characters along the way. This time of year brings about a lot reflection on the privileges I’ve been afforded- and having experiences like this make me so thankful for my health, ability to work, and my passport. @inzulodge

My first 4 years of traveling I was always chasing summer. Then I fell in love with South America during the fall & spent this fall in Europe (@timstastytours is rubbing off of me clearly). We’ve seen some of the most incredible places in the world, including where this photo was taken in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile- one of our favorite places we’ve ever traveled to. While the sun was incredibly powerful during the day the temperatures dropped at sunset. But the desert provided some of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve ever experienced.
