Thirty Seconds to Mars — is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, performing alternative rock. Founded in 1998 by brothers Jared and Shannon Leto.
The name of the group was taken by participants from the article of the former Harvard professor, where there was talk about technological progress, as a result of which humanity in the literal sense of the word will soon be "thirty seconds from Mars". It is interesting to note that even with the speed of light, the minimum distance from the Earth to Mars (during a confrontation) can not be overcome more quickly than in 3 minutes.
In an interview with Kerrang! Jared Leto named the main bands that influenced his work - Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division and Nirvana. His saying is also known: "Thirty Seconds To Mars is the grandiose nature of Pink Floyd in the energy of Sex Pistols." Thirty Seconds to Mars did not use security services and established a close and lasting contact with their fans. In this sense, Jared Leto considers himself and the group to be followers of Minor Threat, who "...were the first who erased the line between the rock performer and the audience."
